About Us
The Caucasus Studies Research and Application Center was established under the Iğdır University Rectorate, in accordance with Article 7(d), subparagraph 2, of Higher Education Law No. 2547. The center was founded to conduct scientific research on the social, cultural, and economic fields related to the Caucasus countries, as well as to enhance communication, collaboration, and scientific solidarity between Turkey and these countries. Its establishment was officially announced in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Turkey on October 8, 2019, issue number 30912.
AIMS:
- Preparing scientific research projects, forming scientific research groups to carry out these projects and providing financial resources.
- To investigate scientific cooperation opportunities with domestic and international scientific research institutions and organizations and to become a member of these institutions when necessary.
- To organize or participate in national and international scientific meetings such as congresses, symposiums, panels, courses, exhibitions and similar in line with the objectives of the center.
- Providing scientific consultancy to private and public institutions, conducting research and studies on Turkey's scientific, cultural, technical and economic policies towards the Caucasian countries.
OBJECTIVES:
The Caucasus Studies Research and Application Center will fulfill its active role in line with the belief that future generations should be educated in alignment with the center's objectives. It aims to foster relations with academic institutions and non-governmental organizations in the Caucasus countries, contribute to the development of a collective understanding, and serve as a research center that supports the promotion of the Republic of Turkey in the Caucasus region and the advancement of relations across various fields..
Our center aims to conduct both academic and community-oriented activities within our university. In line with our mission, the center seeks to organize academic events such as symposiums, panels, and conferences to discuss the cultural, political, and economic developments in the Caucasus countries. We aim to conduct scientific research in social, cultural, economic, and technical fields related to neighboring countries in the region, publish the research findings, and strengthen communication, collaboration, and scientific solidarity between Turkey and the regional countries. The objectives include:
- To raise awareness of our students and the local people about the Caucasus through activities such as panels, symposiums and conferences;
- To contribute to the studies on the Caucasus for both Türkiye and the world with quality and original publications;
- To achieve these goals, we expect solid and sure steps to be taken not in the short term, but over a process that can be digested;
- To work to transform our unit, which is currently operating as the Research Center Directorate, into an Institute;
- To publish a magazine about the Caucasus;
- To organize events related to Caucasian cultures;
- To prepare scientific research projects and to form scientific research groups to carry out these projects.
